Shrink Disc

Shrink Disc

Shrink disc consists of either one or two thrust rings with tapered bore and a mating tapered inner ring. By tightening screws the thrust rings are close together and compress inner ring which generate the pressure on hub endeavour to clamping with shaft and transmit the torque.
  • Two Part Shrink Disc - The stepped taper outer ring is pulled onto the stepped taper inner ring by tightening the clamping screws. A radial clamping force is generated by the taper sufaces, The radial clamping force presses the hollow shaft onto the shaft and creates a frictional bonded connection at the contact surfaces between the shaft and the hollow shaft. Thereby, torque / axial force can be transmitted between the shaft and the hollow shaft.
  • Three Part Shrink Disc - The front nut and rear nut are pulled together over the inner ring by tightening the clamping screws. A radial clamping force is generated by the taper surfaces. The radial clamping force presses the hollow shaft onto the shaft and creates a frictional connection at the contact surfaces between the shaft and the hollow shaft. Thereby, torque / axial force can be transmitted between the shaft and the hollow shaft.
